I hear that Orioles are in Colorado for a bit, but I haven’t seen one at my feeder. What is the best way to attract these birds. They are quite beautiful!
Unfortunately, Colorado isn’t prime oriole real estate. Bullock’s Orioles can be found there, but mostly just during breeding season. One or two other oriole species are found in parts of the state.
Orioles LOVE oranges. You can halve them and put them on an oriole feeder or even just on one of those catch trays you buy at garden centers for your potted plants. You can also offer jelly and nectar to orioles. As you can tell, they have a big sweet tooth.
Awe! That is unfortunate that they are not very popular around here. I just love their orange color!
Do you know where they are most popular?
As the name “Baltimore Orioles” suggests, you can find them in Maryland! Orioles are typically more common in the Eastern US, although there are a few species found in the Southwest.
