I live on the edge of a wooded area. I’ve been feeding birds of all kinds (20+ different types). I’ve been keeping the squirrels fed as well. I’ve counted 8 squirrels at one time. I recently noticed a hawk keeping its eye on all the critters that I have acquired. At first, I was excited to have attracted another species, but I realized within seconds of that excitement that it was stalking its prey. What should I do?
I found this answer to your question, and apparently it’s a fairly common problem! It sounds like birds of prey will move on to a new feeding ground if you simply take down your feeders for a couple weeks.
I wish you luck!
