My birds are disappearing; does anyone know why?

I had such a wide variety of colorful birds and a lot of them have disappeared in the last month. The Gold Finches and other Finches, the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, the Baltimore Orioles, the Hummingbirds, etc. are all gone. I live in Missouri and read that they should all still be here. Does anyone have any idea why they may have left? And has anyone else had this happen recently?

When this happened to me, it was a Cooper’s Hawk. He’s still around… I have some of the smaller birds and Blue Jays, who announce his arrival, but that’s it.This post has received 2 votes up.

I live in Spokane wa.
All my birds have disappeared for month. I’ve had Cooper hawks before . But do they hang around for month? Or is something else going on?

They are all tending to their young. Then they’ll be teaching them how to live, and will be back when it’s time to migrate. You haven’t lost them, they’re just busy raising their families. 🙂This post has received 2 votes up.

Hi there, I’m in central Ks and the same thing has happened here. I have tons of sparrows, red wing blackbirds and starlings and an oriole here or there but even the downy woodpeckers have left. I wondered the same thing.

I think Hawks hang around then go away after a while, the Cooper’s Hawk. As another had said, the birds may be taking care of their eggs and fledglings. Hope so!
I know my Hummers are no longer seen 🙁 due to the nasty Starlings and mean Grackles en masse..when I take away all food they leave and although hard to do it works to a certain degree but I can’t do it for the others who need my food lol.
I feed most of my birds under a tree near my home on the ground b/c of the starlings and cowbirds and grackles ruining the feeders and suet(s).
Omgosh they came and it was BAD they are still here but now maybe 2 or 3. Now a slew of baby cowbirds which make me think they laid their eggs all over others nests. But they seem to play nice as does the red winged blackbird.I take all feeders up until 3pm when I go outside and check on them OFTEN..and run out to shoo away the nasty birds. I DO have many soo many other darlings and it’s quite a variety that come each year or stay.
