This topic should be mentioned, especially for the newcomers to bird feeding. I live in Western Massachusetts and this year has been the most unsettled, weather wise. With bare ground and warm weather the birds can still find natural food so are not that interested in using the feeders. When the ground is covered with snow they are here, a lot of them. Also, it appears that birds follow the warm weather patterns. Two weeks ago during a warm spell we had Blackbirds and Grackles at the feed area. We don’t usually see them until March sometime. The birds are as confused as we are with the weather.
